An extension to the terraced house left a muddy patch of ground.
The client wished to take advantage of the south west sun on the right side of the garden with a seat and raised bed to grow climbers up trellis for screening. She also wished to include a water feature reminiscent of ‘levadas’, water channels seen in Madeira. As she is a keen gardener she wanted to maximise planting space but also be able to dine near the bifold doors. It was a lot to fit in 5x5m space!
The design reused the stone from the house and yard, here complete with some initial planting and the water channel crossing the path to the back door.
With the bifold doors open showing the connection between house and garden.
Aquatic plants were added to the water channel and oxygenators to keep the water clear.
The garden brimming with flowers and colour, including late-flowering purple clematis, oriental lilies, a rambling rose, astrantia, hydrangea and Salvia amistad.
Client feedback
What a stunning transformation of my muddy back yard into a beautiful space for me to relax in and be at one with my flowers, amazing!
